“We are excited to welcome Steve aboard,” said Stephen Mullin, ESI President and Principal. “He has a unique understanding of the forces that shape our region and was instrumental in growing the Economy League and developing initiatives and organizations that have become part of our civic landscape. With his impressive track record, Steve is a key addition as we expand both in our existing geographic footprint and beyond.”

“I am thrilled to join Econsult Solutions,” said Steve Wray. “During my time at the Economy League, I’ve worked with ESI on numerous projects, and have always been impressed by the quality of the work, their innovative approach to complex issues, and their general passion for the economic future of cities and regions. I am looking forward to both working here in Greater Philadelphia and bringing our combined knowledge and experiences to clients in other regions. ”

Steve comes to ESI with a unique background in regional economic competitiveness, civic strategy and public policy, following 11 years as the head of the Economy League of Greater Philadelphia, a region civic catalyst that works at the intersection of the private, public and non-profit sectors in the tristate Greater Philadelphia region. He also conceived and developed the Economy League’s World Class Greater Philadelphia and Greater Philadelphia Leadership Exchange programs, which became the focal points of the Economy League’s activities and engaged hundreds of Philadelphia leaders on an annual basis.

Previously as the deputy director and director of research for the Economy League, Steve was the lead developer, project manager and researcher for the League’s policy and research initiatives leading major initiatives in healthcare, arts, higher education, and economic development among others. He also created and managed IssuesPA, a first-of its kind political communications campaign that was recognized both in the state and nationally as a cutting edge political education effort.

A public policy expert by training, Steve earned his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Public Policy from Duke University and a Master of Science in Public Management and Policy, with a concentration in Urban Planning and Economic Development from Carnegie Mellon University. He also attended the Executive Program in Strategic Perspectives in Nonprofit Management at the Harvard University Business School.

Steve is also an active civic leader, and is the Board Chair of the Health Care Improvement Foundation; a member of the Board of Trustees for the Bucks County Historical Society overseeing Mercer Museum and Fonthill Castle; a member of the Governor’s Early Learning Investment Commission; an executive committee member of the Philadelphia Convention and Visitors Bureau; and an Executive Fellow of Carnegie Mellon University’s Center for Economic Development at Heinz College.
