Research Analyst

Job Description

  • Conduct econometric and statistical analyses of economic, financial and demographic data
  • Create and manipulate spreadsheets for economic and fiscal modeling
  • Draft and edit reports and prepare materials for presentations
  • Conduct technical research on economic and fiscal issues
  • Conduct spatial analyses of data and produce maps and other visuals (helpful)
  • Contribute to the intellectual and analytical direction of work engagements
  • When assigned, work closely with Principals and Directors to supervise Analyst work
  • Interface directly with clients in presentations, status meetings, and working conversations

Qualifications

  • Competence in spreadsheet modeling, cost/benefit analysis, and regression analysis
  • Basic working knowledge of STATA and SAS
  • Competence in working with large datasets
  • Competence in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Competence in Geographic Information Systems (e.g. ArcView GIS) and in spatial analysis techniques (helpful)
  • Ability to thrive in collaborative, project-oriented setting with small groups of professionals, and as needed to complete tasks with little supervision or guidance
  • Ability to manage people and processes towards a working solution within a given timeframe
  • Strong writing skills
  • BA/BS in any of the following majors: Economics, other Social Sciences, Statistics, Mathematics
  • Technical and policy research experience
  • Familiarity with how local and regional economies function

Internship – Research Assistant (Summer 2018)

Job Description

We seek a Research Assistant who will support the work of the firm in the following ways:

  • Collect data through surveys, internet research, and phone calls
  • Clean, analyze, and interpret economic data
  • Research various economic, fiscal, and legal issues
  • Draft, proof, and edit reports, presentations, and visuals
  • Create and manipulate spreadsheets for purposes of economic and fiscal modeling
  • Potentially conduct multivariate analyses, particularly regression analyses, as part of the statistical and econometric aspects of the client work

Qualifications

  • Self-starter, internally motivated
  • Thrives in collaborative, project-oriented settings with small groups of professionals
  • Strong organization and communication skills
  • Familiarity with settings involving complex problem-solving
  • Analytical perspective
  • Working towards or having completed a Bachelor or Master’s Degree in Economics or Public Policy, or equivalent experience
  • Experience in writing technical reports

Marketing Assistant

Job Description

Our firm is seeking one Marketing Assistant who will support the efforts of the Marketing and Business Development Department in the following ways:

  • Assist Director of Business Development with proposals
  • Responsible for generating and updating content of company’s website using WordPress
  • Assist with the production and update of marketing materials (both print and online, including but not limited to staff biographies, marketing packets, articles, blog posts, presentations, press releases, monthly newsletter)
  • Implement marketing initiatives for ESI’s joint ventures: ESI Roubini Thoughtlab and Condo Insight
  • Compile and compose email marketing campaigns via Constant Contact
  • Assist with monitoring and growing ESI’s traditional media and social media presence
  • Work with Director of Business Development on projects dealing with business communications, success stories, media relations
  • Help coordinate our senior advisors network (on-boarding, liaising, and event planning)
  • Inform Principals and staff of relevant market intel on a regular basis
  • Track and update calendar of events as well as firm wide memberships, speaking engagements, and sponsorships
  • Present marketing analytics and display trends
  • Research market trends and new online business opportunities
  • Draft and edit presentations, advertisements, and visuals related to business opportunities
  • Maintain departmental filing and tracking systems
  • Assist with other ongoing tasks as needed

Qualifications

  • BA or BS in Marketing or Communications or other appropriate field
  • Problem solving skills, proactive attitude and advanced research skills
  • Self-starter, internally motivated
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in the field or in a related area preferred
  • Excellent writing and strong copywriting skills
  • Detail-oriented
  • Strong organizational and time management skills- ability to multi-task, prioritize and work under pressure and to tight deadlines
  • Competence in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Basic knowledge in database systems, website formatting and/or coding (basic HTML skills), and social media tools (Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook)
  • Experience with the Adobe Creative Suite
