Gina Lavery is Philadelphia native, growing up in the Far Northeast and currently residing in the Point Breeze neighborhood. Prior to joining ESI Gina was a Research Analyst for Jones Lang LaSalle in Philadelphia, where she was responsible for market research and analysis for the Greater Philadelphia commercial real estate market. She provided detailed market insights and reports on demographic and economic trends to help the firm’s clients determine their real estate decisions.
From 2009-2016 Gina worked in the Office of Government and Community Affairs and the University of Pennsylvania. In that role she monitored legislative and policy developments within city government and implemented a strategic communications and outreach plan to advocate for the University’s interests with local government officials. One of her chief responsibilities was finding opportunities to communicate Penn’s economic and social impact in the region. She also coordinated Penn’s institutional engagement with regional education programs such as the Philadelphia Science Festival and with business attraction initiatives through the Greater Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce and Select Greater Philadelphia.
Gina received her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and European History from the University of Pennsylvania and earned her Masters in City and Regional Planning from Penn’s School of Design. During her time at Penn Planning, Gina focused on leveraging data and statistical modeling techniques to design better cities. Her capstone project was a study of the Jing Jin Ji Chinese megaregion, in which her studio developed a long-term plan for the Greater Beijing region.
Gina serves on the board of the New Leaders Council – Philadelphia and is the leader of Nerd Nite Philadelphia.
